Someone Fell In a Giant Looney Tunes Hole

An unlucky tourist decided to test the validity of an art exhibit and he wound up going to the hospital for it. Kim Horcher and B. Dave Walters talk about how a black hole painted with a non-light-penetrating-paint fooled an elderly museum-goer into testing if it was ACTUALLY a hole. “Like a real-life version of a Looney Tunes cartoon, a visitor to a Portuguese museum was injured last week when he stepped into an art installation resembling an inky void. Currently on exhibit at the Serralves Museum in Porto, Descent Into Limbo by Anish Kapoor includes an actual eight-foot hole that’s painted black—so it appears to have no depth at all.”

I have a better idea for the artist and a fun one. Make the hole have a lift painted black, so when they stand on it, they stand there for a second before it lowers, creating that effect of a cartoon standing in mid air before falling.

It's painted with a material that makes it nearly impossible to tell the depth because of how little light it reflects.

It didn't need to be freaking that deep of a hole. I could have been a foot, not 8 feet.

I just read George Peele's play of Edward I, which supposedly originally starred William Shakespeare in the title role. It has a scene where the queen gets swallowed by a sinkhole in Charing Cross and spat out alive a little bit later, witnessed by a potter's wife and a priest. Maybe this artist's skill could be employed in something like that.
