Don't toss that bent tip brush until you try this! #watercolor #paintbrush #arthack

Try this before you toss your old brush!
There are a lot of reasons why I prefer synthetic bristles on my paint brushes and this is a big one. The heat from the water helps them spring back to life with very little effort. I don't recommend this with natural hair brushes, but for bristles labeled as synthetic or taklon this is a great option to refresh them.

I demonstrated this on one of my watercolor quill brushes that I sell. I have been using this one nearly daily for almost a year and I've refreshed it one other time and it's still almost as good as new!

Oh wow! I'm always afraid of getting super hot water near my brushes out of fear it will melt the glue holding the bristles in place.

Trekell I think is the brand has some product too that can be used to put the points back in your brushes if this doesn’t work. I live one a VERY tiny apartment with my husband and a 4 year old daughter who I most certainly can’t leave my personal art supplies around so they’re constantly crammed somewhere. I do as best I can but it definitely happens lol. The trekell brush stuff is more for natural hair supposedly but I find synthetic hair brushes work best for me and my art style so I really couldn’t tell if it’s better for natural hair ones or not so I’m forever boiling water for my brushes lol

I do this to my brushes every now & again also. But I always make sure that the hot water doesn’t go up to the ferrel because I would risk melting the glue that binds the brush fibers together. 💜🎨🖌️

Brilliant, thanks for the tip! My absolute favourite brush is suffering from bent tip syndrome and I’m so glad I don’t need to get a new one all the way from Japan!

I had/have this issue of course. But I have a cute preventive solution I'm trying. I'm definitely going to do the boiling too. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, I need to try it with one of my brushes. What brand this brush is?

After this step, a little gum arabic can be applied to the tip to keep hairs in place until it dries. It rinses right off before use.

Ha! Dude.... Of course this works! I have never put it together that it's also the way you fix a synthetic wig. 😂😂😂

Don't do that. I tried it and it melted the glue that holds the bristles. If the tip is slightly bent like this, it will correct itself over some time of use.

Would this work for not round brushes? Would i still rotate it or pull it straight? ( thinking of trying this with a angled eyeliner brush
