For medical school, you apply to multiple schools, hopefully get several acceptances, and choose the program that you like most. For residency, it’s not so straightforward. Instead, you’ll be using the NRMP Match and it’s Nobel Prize winning algorithm. Here’s how it works.

I didn't match my first time then match at my top choice the next year. Great content in this video! I'll be making videos soon about my crazy experience thus far.

“Nobel prize winning algorithm”. Lmao I thought it was sarcastic at the beginning.

Great video.
Of note (in case any med students are reading this): Preliminary and transitional year residencies are not simply for unmatched applicants or struggling students, as this video leads you to believe. I went to one for my first choice. Some are much better than others though and consider this option on a case by case basis based on your career goals.

Could you make a video explaining the process of applying to US residency as a foreign student? Love your videos btw!

Omg thank you for clarifying that there was a switch in 1995 from program to applicant-proposing. I kept hearing people insist that it was one or the other, but it seems to have been both at different points in time

America and Europe are like two different dimensions...completely different principles and ways of guidance. Unbelievable.

I know you made a video about if step 1 theoretically changes to pass fail, but it did and now I want to see what my game plan should be entering medical school next year

I would love to see an IMG's 'guide' to the match! i know you weren't an IMG and you would probably need to outsource a lot of info but I think a video like that would be so helpful! love your content and website btw!! <3

Out here commenting both because this video was awesome, well-structured, and because we want to keep the YouTube gods and algorithm happy. 🤣🤣🤣 Great content once again. 🤗
