A body language expert analyzes Trump's unique handshakes

Trump has met with a number of world leaders since he's been in office, and his handshakes with them have gotten a lot of media attention. We spoke with Dr. Lillian Glass, Ph.D., a body language expert based in LA, who took a closer look at these encounters. What's really going on when Trump tugs at Judge Neil Gorsuch's arm several times, and was Prime Minister Abe ok with Trump's 19-second greeting?

Older American males used to "aggressively" shake hands like Trump all the time. Ask practically any old timer how "men" shake hands, especially businessmen, and they will practically all tell/show you that this is how men used to greet one another and act socially and in business settings. All the older men in my family and their peers greet each other with firm handshakes and pats on the shoulder. Being from a different generation it was a little "aggressive" for what I was used to with my peers but I never thought they were "bullies". It is just different mannerisms. People are awful with context and putting things into perspective. Just because a 70-something year old man doesn't have a limp noodle handshake because he grew up in a different time and with different mannerisms doesn't mean his is trying to "dominate" and "bully" everyone all the time.

This is hilarious. All of these people are trained. I don't think you can use body language analysis on people who are consciously controlling their body language. For example, with Netanyahu and Trump looking at him when he speaks. That is a classic sales technique when you're presenting with a partner, I did sales for less than a month and I was taught that behaviour as it encourages the audience to follow your lead and listen to the speaker intently.

When you extend you hand out for a handshake first, that makes the other person come in to you for a handshake. This shows dominance for the person initiating the handshake

Shinzo's face after the handshake REALLY shows that he likes Trump and enjoyed that warm handshake. Also it's a good advice to twist the arm of the other person to show your affection. It has nothing to do with dominance.

I bet I know for whom Dr. Lillian Glass voted.

"A handshake can tell you everything about a person."
"Can" not "does"; therefore, "a handshake can tell you absolutely nothing about a person" is just as valid.

This shit is like handwriting analysis which is just ascended palm-reading.

Abe’s micro-expression though as soon as he pulls his hand away from Trump...

Can't really help shivering every time May shakes hands or attempts to smile - and grimaces at best.

So if one person is leaning it means both like eachother?
And doesn't it feel like he's being dominant when he pulls the other person.
