What UNDERWATER CAMERA Should You Buy?

WHAT CAMERA SHOULD YOU BUY?

Now I get asked this question almost every week via my Instagram. Here are my top picks for some cameras you should look at. These are just some suggestions that I hope help guide your research into what underwater camera is best suited for your needs.

Do make sure to properly research underwater housings as they are very expensive! And for the love of god, DO NOT buy a cheap one, it's really not worth it. And not that I covered lighting in this video (this is a whole separate topic), but make sure to budget for some good lights if you are scuba diving! (Less important if you're only free diving).

Entry Level - Second Hand Action Cameras (GoPro's and the like)
Beginner Photographer - Canon G16, Olympus TG4 or TG5, Sony RX100 Mark IV - V
Mirrorless Cameras - Panasonic GX7, Olympus OMD EM5 or EM1, Panasonic GH4 or GH5, Sony A6300, A6500
Full Frame - Sony A7III or Sony A7RIII, Nikon D500, D750 or D850

(Sorry Canon)

Full disclosure the D500 here isn't mine, I've recently upgraded to the Sony A7III and i'm loving it! Just waiting on getting my Isotta Housing!

Whats your take on a Canon G7X Mark 2, I had shortlisted that before I saw your video. Versus the SONY RX100 Mark IV it seems like the better option for someone who wants to take both Macro Images and Wide Angle Videos.
