The fifth single from album three.

LYRICS:

Climb up the chair by the window
You were looking for your friend
Mama said “they’ll be here soon”
Makes me wonder what’s in your head
“Soon” that’s a tough one
All it means is not right now
And for you just a couple of moments
Are the same as a hundred hours

What to do?
When all you want is forever away
Or maybe it’s soon
Either way
It takes a long time to wait

We used to dream by the window
Lots of laughter, steady smiles
Something pure, something simple
Now I can’t take a joke and there’s dirt in my eyes
I’ve been trying to clean em
But there’s dust on the other side
I see you so dimly right now
And I’m waiting
I’ve been waiting for things to go bright

What to do?
When all you want is forever away
Or maybe it’s soon
Either way
It takes a long time to wait

Keep a chair by the window
For the waiting in the night
And we pray for the morning
Though we can’t find a hint of the light
Can you give me a window?
Just a glimpse of what heaven is like
I’ve been looking for something
But I can’t see a lot with these same old tired eyes

I found this song in my New Music Mix playlist on Apple Music. I just want to say thank you. This piece of art truly touched my soul in the time of life I am in right now. Some songs feel like they are meant for you, and this is one of them. The songwriting, the chord progressions, the production... it's all stunning. Thank you so much to everyone involved❤

Joel, I just wanted to encourage you that your music is absolutely amazing. I discovered a couple of your songs on Spotify years ago but after hearing "It takes a long time to wait", I knew I had to hear everything you've done. Layers is my favorite album of this year. It's unbelievable! Thank you for sharing your music. It has been on repeat in my house for a few months now. I'm a musician and I love discovering every little detail in each song.

As a Christian, I love both the music and lyrics. It's wonderful to have several albums of clean, meaningful, music that I can enjoy with my kids. God bless you and your family!

Waiting on the PROMISE that God WILL work all things out for my good according to his purposes.

1 Peter 5:10
“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

Romans 8:28
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

This song has been the only thing keeping me from falling apart lately. It's just so calming and the chords are so damn beautiful. I have been living in this song lots and it's a nice place to be
Every time I feel down I put this on and it's like an instant stress relief(?) Idk how to describe it, but thank you so much for putting this on Spotify so I can listen to it 24/7 :')
