We received a call about a dead snake stuck to a sticky trap that was thrown in the garbage. Thankfully the person who called was concerned about her, and we were able to successfully rescue and rehabilitate her!

For anyone wondering why we adopted her out when she was either an escaped or released pet-
Our building is connected to an apartment complex (which is where she was found). The woman who initially called helped us spread word to the entire building and surrounding neighborhood about a found kingsnake. Nobody claimed her for over a month, so we decided to adopt her out :)

I can’t believe she did this with bare hands. Emily your dedication to animals is disgustingly beautiful

This video literally saved my snakes life!!! I had a small baby ball python get out of her cage couldn't find her for a whole day. Finally found her. She was COMPLETELY wrapped in duct tape!!! We used vegetable oil to get her out of the tape and it worked wonders!!! She did unfortunately rip the side of her neck from stretching the skin but it healed and she's as good as new after a few sheds!!!

I love the little subtitles you put on “it is not ripe” “me prefer my food decomposed”

Glue traps are thankfully illegal in the UK. They're horrific! I can't imagine the terror the trapped animal must go through. Thank you for helping her (even though it was super gross).

I'm still traumatized by the sticky traps I saw at a friend's farm when I was younger. I can't even imagine the terror those poor animals go through. Thank you for helping this one.

I was wary when I read the title bc I've heard there are people who bring animals in dangerous situation just to heroically "rescue" them on camera. But when I saw who uploaded this I was relieved, I know you actually care for animals ♥️

A little note about mineral oil, having had to use it on one of our ball pythons that got himself stuck in a hide door by trying to go in and out at the same time... It causes a mild breakdown of the scales (another reason there were scales all over the enclosure) so when they shed next there's usually already some holes in the shed so it doesn't really come off in one piece and they tend to need help on the next shed after mineral oil - sticky glue or no. So if you have to use it on a snake just be prepared the next shed will have some issues.

The fact that Emily of all people was disgusted while helping the snake says a LOT in my eyes.
I also find it all the more amazing that despite that she helped the snake out. Truly admirable and praiseworthy!

My first snake, a juvenile children’s python, escaped and got stuck on duct tape. Thought she was a goner when her skin started to tear. Only had lavender baby oil on hand but worked like a charm and since lavender is a natural healer I believe it helped somewhat. After a few sheds and antibiotics she was good as new and now we are bonded from that mutual traumatic event.

I've only ever used sticky traps inside for black widows (they're really common in the summer where I live) so the first time I saw them used for mice I was horrified. I didn't know people used them for harmless animals. They're so inhumane. Thank you for helping him!

I was horrified by sticky traps as a kid, my dad used them and they were just so cruel. We had a lizard get stuck to one once and my mom figured out tonuse oil to get the poor thing off. Just recently had to convince my husband not to put them in the garage. I'm so glad you were able to save her and she's doing so well.

I wonder if she was so hungry because of being an escaped pet (possibly only ever eating frozen thawed) that when she saw those mice she was desperate and they were still like what she’s used to eating. Poor girl! Thank you for helping her!

Agreed, glue traps are beyond cruel. My husband and I only used one once, deliberately, to catch a crafty mouse in our place that just wouldn't go into the live traps we had. We had to find glue paper, actually, because he would just go around glue trays as well. The ONLY reason we did that was because we already knew how to release it from the glue trap, so once he got stuck (which we heard happen cuz he squeaked), we immediately grabbed the whole glue paper with the poor mouse on it, put it into a container, grabbed some olive oil and drove it out to a rural-ish area to release it. Doused the mouse with olive oil and he came right off the glue paper and ran away. He was only on that glue trap for maybe 30-40 mins, max. Hopefully he didn't just become a seasoned snack for something, but out in a field is better than in our house.

You can see how much better she was feeling when she started getting sassy! Great rescue and advice if anyone else finds something stuck in a glue trap :)

You just *know* a situation is beyond gross when even Avid Snake Feeder, Waste Cleaner, and Zoo Owner Emily is gagging 🤢 But I'm glad the snake is okay now, and that ya'll were able to help her!! And thank you for the PSA about glue traps, they are absolutely, repulsively inhumane 💔

I saved a lizard stuck on a glue trap at a grocery store I worked at. I tried to get them to not do them anymore but most people don’t care :( . If more dogs and cats got stuck then people would listen

Is it weird that I think snakes look cute when they eat? They look so adorable to me! I'm glad she got the kingsnake out of its, hehe, sticky situation. But in short, I love snakes, and its always good to see one who was sick nursed back to health!
