Love it or hate it, Marvel's Avengers (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is pretty complex. Here are some tips and tricks if you decide to jump in.

The game definitely does not explain anything except once. And usually when you can’t fully understand how the systems mash together.
But overall I enjoy this game quite a bit, but I also went in with no expectations at all.

Fyi you don’t need to select chimera mission to head back to the outposts. Hover over helicarrier for chimera and select travel to outpost and hover over utah to select ant hill. This doesn’t matter during the reassemble campaign but when you’re done with it that’s how you can go to the outposts.

Don't forget to parry attacks when you're overwhelmed. Parrying with right trigger knocks all close enemies back.

Tip #1 if you're in a group like Falcon said, parry. This knocks everyone back. If you have the skill point then you can also immediately do your combo finisher.

I’m loving the game! I just completed the campaign and really enjoyed the story. I’m enjoying playing missions with my friends and it’s generally a really good time.
That being said, I hope they fix some quality of life stuff and boy, it can be buggy sometimes but it was mostly just stuff to chuckle at and reload a checkpoint - nothing horrendous. I hope they do something with the drop rates though. Even as a Destiny 1 veteran these drops seem bad.

Something else important the game doesnt tell you is that XP isn't affected by difficulty. So if you wanna level up fast, you just gotta complete a lot of missions and again I think the Harm missions are the best for that, however if you want better GEAR playing higher difficulty missions will be effective to drop get some good stuff.
