I have some ideas for episodes. 1. You know how cartoon characters run on air until they look down. How fast would u need to move your legs to fly like that. 2. The spell Bombarda Maxima from Harry Potter creates explosions. How would it work with physics to make an explosion out of just the stuff in the atmosphere.

That segment on 'valves' and 'exit' and 'exit' is, BY FAR, the funniest bit I've ever seen you do. That was AWESOME. hahahahahahahahaha

Destin from SmarterEveryDay did a video on your intro topic in which he subjected himself to high altitude training that military pilots use. There was a point in the video when the instructor told him "You have to put on your mask now or you are going to die" and he could not understand what they were telling him and sat there smiling dopily and saying "okay" without moving. It was a little upsetting to watch.

When they tell you to put your mask on first it's because you can't tell when you cross the line from being able to think critically to being mentally incapacitated from oxygen deprivation. There's no HUD notification in real life that tells you "Danger! Low Oxygen Environment!" There's no warning at all.

From the instant the hull breaches on an aircraft at altitude you have seconds to react properly or you become an unnecessary burden that could have been avoided. If there is any time in your life to be selfish this is it. Take care of yourself first, then help others.

I'm 61 years old and like science but I really watch just to see Kyle. You are really one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

As usual, love the show dude! I'm particularly attentive to the footnotes episodes, because the previously unexplored caveats can get some attention too. Also it inspires people like me to get exercising that squichy squichy brain. As my sci-fi graphic novel is concerned, nothing will likely apply in our next Because Science investigation, but I'm still super excited and will be sure to offer some thoughts of my own!

Come to think of it I do have some clawed reptilian aliens who will be in some action sequences. I guess that'll be interesting then.

Kyle: "I'm not gonna explain flatulent farcical physics!"
Also Kyle: "Okay, here's how he could fart through space."

Finally got onto an episode of footnotes! Thank you for addressing the topic, Kyle.

In StarCraft lore expelling gas is actually how Broodlords fly in space. They're depicted as flapping their wings as well, but this is explained as purely habitual.

Thanks for keeping me entertained during my poops. That's right, don't strain, take your time, and you won't be in pain.

As a Captain I can confirm that! This video had a time of useful consciousness (TOC) of 14:47. Keep up the good work!

I recall WW1 ace Eddie Rickenbacker stating in his book how his vision would turn black & white when up at very high altitudes (sometimes 20k feet and more) in their open-topped biplanes during the war. The pilots didn't know why their vision was going wonky at the time, and they chalked up the sluggishness to the extreme cold up there and assumed that was just the normal color of the atmosphere up there. He didn't find out what was really happening until after the war when studies started being done on altitude effects on the human body.

Ahh.. the early days of flight.

Technically speaking, the fortress of solitude isn't bound by any laws because no country has jurisdiction over the region, so breaking any laws is impossible.
