Biggest thing I noticed is companies are moving out of California due to the taxes which = less jobs. Add that to affordable housing exodus.

I called that place home for a solid 12 years, repeatedly returning with the aim of solidifying my presence. San Diego, however, tends to operate within tight-knit circles. Success often pivots on networking and relationships, where the key to unlocking opportunities is intricately tied to the people you're connected with. It's a city that demands a well-established social network or strong family ties to swing open doors. Navigating this lively yet challenging urban environment proves to be quite the challenge without some meaningful connections. If you're not financially well-off, you'll find yourself putting in double the effort, while others casually enjoy patios and indulge in $18 drinks. You might even find yourself sharing living spaces with individuals you wouldn't spare a second glance at in a grocery store. Making it work in this demanding city is no walk in the park, but it's not impossible.

I grew up in San Diego and eventually had to leave it was so complacent. I get bored whenever I go back. It's like Mayberry RFD with a million people.

if anyone is wondering about moving to san diego, just move to LA County or Orange County. You get all of the good parts of san diego, beach cities outdoor events and weather PLUS social events, a much more vibrant economy and a road system that wont completely violate your car's suspension system.

San Diego is cool when you’re comfortable with your life situation. It’s not the city to make money like LA.

6:02 Wow, if the claim is an amendment to the state constitution is 500 times since California's statehood in 1850, that would be just under 3 changes per year there is an amendment on average.. Stay safe people, print more money to pay taxes, live for the state and robust government you are nurturing. May you always be affluent.

How’s our “ perfect” SoCal weather working out these day?

I'm one that left SD. California's ruined, not the beauty, climate, ocean, it's all still there. It's the tyrants in Sacramento, always has and apparently always will be...it's sickening. Forgot to say that I'm also a business owner.

You said it like it is.
We here in San Diego vote for every tax increase, and the city never forgets to propose a new tax or fee when it's time to vote.
Forget the apartment rental business now. It's a Sucker's Bet.
With the Attorney/Advocate Eviction Mob running in the background.

The buildings aren't going up because the crazy codes and permits that California has, not just SD. The fact that more residential buildings are put up in NYC annually than LA, SF, and SD combined is ridiculous. That shows how strict their permits are. NYC has far less land than all of these places.

I’m leaving because I want to get married. Many men in San Diego have Peter Pan Syndrome. With the laid back beach lifestyle, many men are in no rush to settle down. There’s vague hangouts instead of real dates, lack of effort, big stoner weed culture, polyamory, “ethical non monogamy”, and just overall lack of ambition. Many men decide to finally settle down in their 50s and 60s (with a much younger woman). I thought maybe there was just something wrong with me until I started traveling. In other cities, many men are very direct with me, asking to take me out to dinner.

Most people in San Diego don't live there they have to move to Tijuana or leave because of the prices it's crazy. But I will always love the land I was born on. There really is no other reason to leave, new construction is happening all over San Diego??? So I disagree with that.

I love San Diego. Went there for the first time two years ago and fell in love. It’s an impossibility for us to buy (which makes me sad). However, who is a buying a 1300sq for 1.3 million? Like what are the occupations of the buyers?

It's too bad that it has become almost unfordable for the poor and middle class. I have a friend who owns a home in La Mesa, rents out another home in Lemon Grove, and rents 2 small apartments in University Heights. He also works full-time and so does his partner. This friend inherited oil stocks/money which helped him greatly. I lived there in 1988, and they were just building up Downtown. It was affordable and a bit funky. I had not trouble affording rents or with roommates in Hillcrest, Mission Hills, and North Park. I once went to a dinner party in Kensington couple had a beautiful home with a pool. Back then it looked expensive. Now?

I know a whole bunch of political reasons not to move to Florida. That state is horrendous.
