I watched this movie when I was 26 and right before I went into a battle for my very life. I began to have flashbacks of deep trauma in my childhood and then I plunged under 100 lbs. and almost died. I cried and cried and cried through this movie. This movie, the courage of the 54th, and their example, helped get me through. I plan to carve the quote on my front door: A DEEP MAN BELIEVES THAT THE EVIL EYE CAN WITHER, THAT THE HEARTS BLESSING CAN HEAL, AND THAT LOVE CAN OVERCOME ALL ODDS! I love war movies. This one is my very favorite! I saw the statues of the 54th in Boston and I started weeping...in the movie he said what you see here, REMEMBER...we remember the bravery and sacrifice of the 54th...
