First driverless vehicle approved to operate on public roads in Europe

The realm of autonomous transportation technology is a crowded place, and one company that has covered a lot of ground is EasyMile of France.

The business has been testing and developing its driverless shuttle in various regions around the world and has now added another feather to its cap by becoming the first vehicle in France to be approved to run without a human driver.

Since launching its box-on-wheels EZ10 people mover in 2015, EasyMile has conducted trials in over 30 countries, the majority of which are conducted without a human onboard but are overseen by a remote operator.

The EZ10's latest version seats 15 passengers and features cushioned seating and safety belts. Additionally, the business recently incorporated an automated ramp and wheelchair anchor points for disabled customers.
