In telling the epic story of the reptiles and amphibians David Attenborough completes his overview of life on the planet. The very latest technology enables extraordinary and previously unseen behaviour to be captured in intimate detail, overturning the myth that cold blooded life is slow, solitary and primitive and revealing these creatures to be as dramatic, social, sophisticated and passionate as warm blooded animals. As with Life in the Undergrowth, this series will change the audience's perceptions forever - giving them a new, warm-hearted relationship with Life in Cold Blood.

Welcome to BBC EARTH! The world is an amazing place full of stories, beauty and natural wonder. Here you'll find 50 years worth of entertaining and thought-provoking natural history content. Dramatic, rare, and exclusive, nature doesn't get more exciting than this.

Thank you Sir D. Attenborough, spring has been here in BC, Canada for a week now, and the pink buds of the cherry blossoms are starting to appear. More beautiful scenes in the next weeks. 🦋

Thank you for showing off this beautiful species native to my home! I take great pains to invite them into my yard by avoiding pesticides and leaving plenty of fallen logs and rocks for basking and hiding! I have green anoles (another native lizard species), a resident carpenter frog, and the occasional five lined skink! Even snakes visit on occasion!

it's pretty cool that I went my whole life living in North Chicago, Illinois suburbs, USA and never saw a skink lizard anywhere ( and I looked!) then I went to school 6 hours south near the border of the state, and in one of the many amazing Forest Preserves I spotted a couple skinks like this. It was possibly the quickest reptile I've seen, There was no hope of trying to catch it. Off topic but the reason Florida is my favorite state is bc the amount of bio-diversity, from the forests/ swamps and fields to the lakes and warm Atlantic ocean it's wildlife lover's dream. Watch out for invasive animals everyone!

These skinks are a delightful sight in my home of southern Oregon. Always been an avid herper, and our diversity of reptiles is amazing.

The motherhood of both humans and lizards reflects protection and sacrifice for their offspring. Just as a mother always shelters and cares for her child from a young age, a mother lizard also guards her eggs, keeping them safe from danger. Both demonstrate the sacred maternal instinct no matter the species, love and responsibility for one's offspring remain a powerful force.
