Can I even try and grow figs/pawpaw/ peaches in WI? if so are there certain varieties you would go for that still taste decent and are worth the space? I have plums that do well. Do you know anything about cherries?

I'm a first time fig grower. I bought it during the winter. At that time it lost all its leaves. I just planted it in ground. It only has one long stem. Should I cut it down to encourage growth?

I am in zone 5 and am looking to grow Chicago hardy in a container because we are renting our home. Would I overwinter it the same way? Cut it all the way back every winter until the risk of frost has passed? We have a super short growing season here (May- September).
