NHS Crisis: 27 hours for a bed

Staff at Royal Free Hospital in north London say the COVID-19 pandemic has left a legacy - there is a "huge backlog" of patients.

Research from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) shows that nationwide 1,000 more people are dying every week than expected.

From over 400, 000 beds in the 1970s to under 200, 000 beds now. Less hospitals and less trained staff. Well done UK governments for this disaster in the making as cost were cut as the population rose. Not that ministers didn't know in advance that our NHS failed the 'stress test' in the event of a national emergency. Bravo. And now charges are being considered again?

I spent 12 hours in A&E waiting for a bed and it wasn't so bad. The only thing I thought is that the department could have done with some orderlies for certain tasks like making tea, taking temperatures and blood pressures, clearing up sick etc, as a lot of this seemed to be done by highly trained nurses. They were worked off their feet.

I had to wait 36 hours for bed. I had to sit on a plastic chair in A&E for over 24 hrs with a kidney infection

Make a story not just about hospitals because it’s all the craze right now 🤦🏻‍♀️ make stories on all nhs places ie complaints systems that don’t answer and therefor people can’t follow the process and go to the ombudsman the drs surgeries that need expanding and extra staff and stop accepting people on there lists while people are waiting 4-6 weeks for an appointment. Mental health when your waiting a year + for support and even then it’s not real support. Removing therapies and 1-1 therapies people with ptsd and agoraphobia need 1-1 a group of people means panic attacks 🤬 no art therapies ect anymore. Don’t just single out drs because there making a fuss so some real journalism and look into the real issues

Cancer patients deserted till after Easter break. Patients deserted as certain hospital staff put the Easter break as more important!

I have paid UK taxes and national insurance all my life and could not get an appointment for over a year
Now I have moved to Thailand here the hospitals are like 5 star hotels I got appointment immediately no waiting
