I recently came across this little number: the iPod nano 7th generation. I was surprised how many modern touches this little guy has which makes it surprisingly usable today. However, this won't be replacing your iPhone anytime soon for one big reason.

Chapters:
0:00 iPod - Brief history
1:20 Physical design - really sleek!
2:10 Display - tiny but mighty
2:30 OS - Nostalgia incoming
3:09 nano vs touch - not the same...
3:46 Music experience - ears are satisfied!
4:24 The key issue
5:05 Use case - smartphone detox
5:26 Battery - keeps on running!
5:45 Conclusion

Great piece doesn’t support the AirPods Pro 2’s and newer . Just a headsup

Thanks for this look-back. Mine (16gb) is now permanently usb'd (as the Bluetooth doesn't play well with non-apple devices) into my car head unit as its main source of music (1200+ songs) and lots of mpeg4 music videos that look surprisingly crisp for a small screen. A good buy in its day.

When I was 13 in GCSE, I got my first iPod and I was the coolest kid in class. That was my debut into the Apple world and I never look back ever since.

I daily drove one of these last year, it is really good apart from the audio quality. It's thin, small, light, has Bluetooth capability, its just great. Only ditched it because i got tired of not legally downloading my songs and managing iTunes

I have a pair, one is gold and the other is space gray, I still wear it to this day, they are cool. Even though I am from today's generations. I was able to buy it last year.

I still want Apple to release the 8th Gen iPod Nano with wifi and Apple music streaming, I'll definitely buy it.

The lack of WiFi and Apps are why people still use iPods. It's a plus.

I love my 7th gen iPod Nano. It's easy to pocket. It's small & very thin, yet has touchscreen & phone-like inputs.
It's like having a micro-iPhone/large non-fitness Apple Watch just for music.

I wish Apple had continued with this, or at least someone picked up the torch. It's a beautiful form-factor.

iPod Nano 8: New colors, Retina Display, Wifi, Mini App store for select apps like Apple Music and Spotify and some podcast apps, USB C, more storage and last but not least, edge to edge 3-inch display for the price of $349/$399 with 32GB/64GB of storage. I would buy it not gonne lie.

I've been using Sony walkman nw-a35 mp3 player for 6 years now, and I have a flip phone that doesn't have internet or the ability to play music. I see people say that the file management is tiring, yes, but don't think it stops me from using mp3 players because managing my music is like managing what makes my soul. I see it as a very important act.

I am still using an ipod nano 5th gen until today. I never stopped using it. I find it just a lot more handy when I do my workouts, not having to always bring my phone with me, and I keep listening to the same bangers anyway. But I still use streaming service when Im at home or at work.

if you want to fulllly detox, and still be able to discover music. I recommend going to record stores and finding music you like through CDs. You'll be able to rip those songs from the cd into your computer and be able to port them into your iPod nano or any mp3 music device.

The iPod and iPad are the best Apple inventions and you can’t deny that!

Little story: I got given a brand new Nano 7th gen around 2016-17 and I couldn't do anything with it!
Sadly, my computer was on parental control and my dad had forgotten the password for the Admin account, so even if I installed iTunes, it wouldn't let me access it.
I used the radio app for some time before getting bored of it after a few weeks and forgetting it.

Fast forward 2024, my cell plan is only 2G, I take the bus to college and I just don't like Spotify.
Lo and behold!! I find my Nano! Still looks almost-brand-new and doesn't have any issues!

Since I got a new computer a few years ago, I could finally get iTunes and, ever since I downloaded and transfered songs onto it, I've been using it a lot more in the last 6 months than in the previous 7-8 YEARS of owning it!

My first proper device was the 5th gen iPod Touch and I always loved the Nano. Never had or experienced one but this generation of nano just does something for me

I still have my 7th gen. It's so cool and modern for being as old as it is. Wish Apple would have made apps for it, kinda like how smartwatches have nowadays. If someone could get custom firmware on this thing, it would be so much cooler. Awesome video man!

I purchased a 7th gen. iPod touch back in 2020 for this reason. To have something small and light for my music, and not have to have my iPhone hooked up to my stereo when I have people over, but still be able to use all kinds of music streaming apps, bluetooth connectivity etc.
