The Flexliners would have been great in the Amtrak New Haven to Springfield, MA service, New Jersey Transits Philadelphia to Atlantic City Service, Connecticut DOT service between New Haven & New London & Trinity Rail Express commuter train service in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The Flexliner was also tested on a branchline near San Jose, California called the Santa Cruz Branchline.

Great video! In Spain we call them "Zodiacs" or "Condoms" because of their rubber fronts. Sadly, these units are undergoing a refurbishment programme that includes removing their rubber rings.

I'm from Canada and have rode the IC3 demonstrator several times in 1997. Most interesting (for a train) was the sound and feel of the automatic transmission shifting through the five speeds, most pronounced in the "club" section. RDC's have no "gears"

Soooo. I'm from denmark and these ic3 trains are still in service... I work for DSB currently keep them running. There's been a mass engine swap to a v6 and alot of other things if you want to make an updated video?

In Denmark the IC3 got refurbished last year and is ready for another decade.

Personally i prefer the IR4 sister. Not as noisy

Through some odd circumstances the IC3 that were sent to the States by Israel ended this year in Romania and will be operated on the Iashi-Mangalia line.

I didn't know IC3 is used in Amtrak.

great video but seems weird that the train can't climb hills because its the default train of choice for climbing the mountain to Jerusalem and its doing it just fine, in the clip where the train is going in the snow is filmed at Jerusalem which is about 700m or 2400 feet above sea level.

As a Danish railfan, im speechless...

The FRA should have changed the laws, and allowed Amtrak and other commuter railroads to boy these trains. At the time, they were state of the art. I know the MBTA once tested them back in 1997. The MBTA should have bought them.

These trains are still in service in denmark because the IC4 is sucking right now. and yes bc denmark is flat the IC3 doesn't really have problems

There were also built some units for a private railroad in Sweden.
There does exist a Danish book about the train and it's development process, which included rebuilding 2 standard passenger cars to be coupled together with a rubber nose between them, to test how it works.
Some class MR trainsets were also rebuilt with the engine technology which they had planned to put in the IC3.

There's actually quite a few articles online about the Flexliner's trial in America, but i guess not much information about the train in english otherwise.
