Biggest thing for me is price to performance. Let's pretend the 2080 gets 100fps at 4k in a AAA game like Battlefield 5. Then I could justify that price. But if strictly in terms of fps you gain maybe 20%, it would not be worth it to anyone with a 1070 or higher to upgrade imo.

I'm interested in the 2080/2080 ti. Want to see what the real difference performance wise is compared to the 10 Series cards before shelling out a fair amount of money since there's the move up from GDDR5X to GDDR6 as well as the increases in cuda cores to take into account as well as ray tracing. I wonder if Nvidia is trying to hide something about the real world performance at this stage because their examples in the keynote were rather specific.

To say that they look pretty good is an understatement. Still, I'm content with my 1080Ti; it has more than enough power for most of my needs.

Funny how actual game performance wasn't mentioned, only ray tracing performance. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if when all the fancy bells and whistles are turned on the actual fps and general performance isn't a massive leap over pascal.

The fact that they made up a new performance metric to compare the new to the old (that's how they get their 10X faster claims), suggests that they are a bit worried about comparing the new to the old with the old metrics. Really what is RTX-Ops and how does that translate?
An interesting tell was the comparison of Turing to the quad GV100's used, ray traced frames went from 55-45ms with the 2080ti turing chip for their demo, but how many gamers will be happy with sub 30 fps performance and if that's what 78 Tera RTX-ops gets you, then we're going to have to wait for 250 Tera RTX-Ops to hit 60fps on a good day, or three way SLI with a $1000 card.

Im thinking about getting 2070 but the other cards are too much for me. I think the 2070 should be the perfect middle ground pc that gets the most bang for buck
