I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.

Great video, visited GIB a few years back while staying in Malaga, was great driving over the runway a unique experience 👍

A beautiful, clear day in Gib. The sharp shadows cast by the plane added greatly to the effect. Nicely captured again. A landing and take-off in different directions after a quick turn round must be quite rare. I wonder if the people on the Sunborn on New Year's Day morning, possibly nursing a few sore heads, were impressed by the engines on full power at their end of the runway!
