My tips for PVP in DayZ (especially gunfight) are pretty much standard tips many people already uttered, in no particular order:
1. The one who sees and shoot first usually win.
2. Cover vs Concealment! If you can be seen, then you can be shot. Take cover is something that stops bullets (walls, trees, stones, etc) whilst concealment is something that stops you from being seen/observed. If there's no cover, go for concealment. In an open terrain where cover and concealment is not possible, throw a smoke grenade, better than nothing.
3. Hide behind tress or bushes. Grass eventually stop to render at certain distance, even if you wear Ghillie suit, you will stick out. Also try to blend with your environment, I found TTSKO camo (Combat Jacket) blends with the Chernarus enviroment well.
4. In combat, drop your backpack. You'll have more stamina to run and larger backpack can make wearer's silhouette bigger, thus reducing stealth. You can always pick it up later, if haven't taken by anyone.
5. Suppressed guns are better. Calibers like .45ACP and 9x39mm are best for stealth because they are subsonic by nature (no sonic crack). Any experienced DayZ player can identify where and how far they been shot from by listening to sonic crack and weapon sound.
6. Switching to your other weapon is always faster than reloading.
7. There's no shame in retreating if you can't win.
8. If you have to retreat, try to retreat to the forest, it's harder to see and there might me wolves and bears which discourage your pursuer. In case of buildings, a building that has 2 exits are better.
9. If you died, it's OK, it's only a game, your mental being is most important :D

As a player who has over 10k hours. Pvp skills don't matter. I'm better than an average player. But if I'm not in a position to win a fight. I leave epipen crack will have me sprint 6 miles away after I break visibility.

By the quality of the video I thought you would at least have a 100k subs. You definitely deserve it brother, keep building yourself!

Aim matters, but not as much as you’d think. I win almost every fight I go into, not because I have good aim, but because I position my self smart, or am patient, or I move in an unpredictable way. This game is about thinking. If you rush into every fight, you’ll die and this game will not be fun. If you learn to be patient, watch, listen, and think, you’ll have the time of your life playing this game.

“3 hours surviving, 4 seconds in combat” lol your average player is hiding from and avoiding conflict for 72 hours + and getting sniped in a doorway just to do it all again. It’s honestly beautiful.

Best tip in this video: practice on high loot / frag servers!

Another tip may be a bit harder to master but it is to remain as calm as possible during a gunfight. You're more likely to misfire or make other mistakes when agitated. One way to keep more calm during an encounter is to lower the stakes. Keep valuable things stuffed somewhere safe in boxes and only take with you what you can spare. That way dying is less painful and you'll remain more calm in otherwise stressful situations thus adding to your ability to fight back.

At least, this approach has helped me become a much more efficient killer than I used to be. Now when I get killed, all I have to do is walk for 15 minutes to my improvised base location and reequip. It's much less frustrating than the way I played this game before. When I meet other players now, I just laugh because there's not so much at stake and remain totally calm when being shot at.

Also on terms of smoke grenades, it might be usefull to attach activated smoke grenades on your vest when running away.
Not for any coverage value ofc, but it might look so funny that the guy shooting at you has to laugh so hard that he misses each shot.
Which a guy pulled of on me once.

All hail the cooking pot.

For close range pvp understanding when to push or hold, dropshotting, and building knowledge is some of the best things to get a hang of to get really good really quick

I have such a hard time keeping calm during firefights. This is the only game where I get an adreniline rush so high that I cant think properly and get shakey because so much is at stake 😂😅

We are more a group of sneakers than PVP people, avoiding contact whenever possible. I only shoot at someone when it's not looking good and moving away isn't likely to succeed. I think that is more likely to be the survivalist mindset. I need to be better about nicking that sparkplug, car battery, or some pointless gear when we find a spot a player is in. Leaving no trace would be better. We found a loaded-out compound near Gieraltow and we just couldn't help ourselves this group had everything. We felt bad but we left with M4's, Night vision optics, FALs, tons of suppressors, and 3 punch cards. We were like dwarves making off with treasure, in a half panic that we would get caught but gleeful with loads of stuff we didn't even know existed. Hopefully the group can get that gear back.

Some weeks ago I had a quick look at PvP deathmatch servers and it's all kids camping spawns with grenade launchers, so I didn't find it much use.

You can practise sniping easy enough by finding a location close enough to a town to spawn zombies - don't forget to suppress your weapon. Wolf attacks also useful, and particularly in the sense that you have to react quickly to a sudden threat, and if you want CQC type practise then just wander into a military base and fire an UNsuppressed weapon, and you will very shortly be getting a lot of practise!

I've jumped onto some of those PVP servers. Much of the time, the shooting is so loud that they sound like they're a few feet away. But, when I slowly walk around I never see anyone. I swear that I must be a couple feet away, based on the loudness of the shot, but struggle to find anyone. It's frustrating. I end up just leaving the server. I keep going back, so hopefully one day I'll actually see someone who is shooting. LOL.

You keep posting high quality content. Great job.

Remember, it may take a year, maybe two, but if u keep this up, you will be able to quit your job.

i might be late to tgis video but one thing that took me luteral weeks in total to understand was how loud shots were and what guns were being shot at what range, it may sound like it wasvright next to you but in actual fact it was 400m to 600m from you
