I am using DISTRIBUTION type for creating tables in dedicated SQL pool.

My team uses all of the techniques described here, but there are still lots of gotchas. For example replicating tables doesn't always mean data doesn't move and heap tables while fast for loading data isn't a great option for running transformations against which then requires more data movement.
