YO! I figured it out! The reason why you can’t access the game via game share on another console is because it’s only In pre release for the editions that aren’t the standard one. Whichever account bought the game is the one who has access for now. Once the game official comes out on Tuesday we’ll be able to game share with another ps5 in our house! Hope this helps some of y’all out

After having tried for hours to be able to play local couch with my partner on my ps5, I have now found a work-around that should help everyone having issues with getting player 2 to join the session.

First off, make sure that player one has a PlayStation account linked with a battlenet account that has purchased Diablo 4.

Player two needs to have their own PlayStation account on the same console as well as their own battlenet account.

So far, so good. Player one needs to create a character in Diablo 4 an play the entire prologue. Player two can watch if they like ;-).

Now, player one needs to leave the game and create a new character. This can be a throw-away-character. Player one will need to start a new game with this character.

Right after the opening cutscene, it is now the turn for player two. Make sure you have a second controller connected to your console. Activate the controller and chose the PlayStation account for player two. Player two needs to press the share button on the controller and should be able to join player one’s game (with the throw-away-character). Player two won’t have their own character yet so you may create one with the menu that will pop up in the right corner of the screen. Player two should now create a character that is intended to play with player one.

After that you should be able to join the world of player one. It is now important that player one leaves the game, so only player two remains.

Player two is now able to overtake the game created and play through their very own prologue. This is important as player two will have to have reached the end of the prologue in order to join the real character of player one that was created in the first step. This means, this time player to may watch player one playing the prologue.

After player two will have reached the end of the prologue, they can leave the game. Player one may now open a new game, starting after the prologue. Player two may then join the session via the share button once more. Both characters should be around level 6-9 by now having reached the same level of progress and being able to continue with the story together.

I don’t know what blizzard was thinking to make it that complicated. The big issue here is that both players will have to have completed the prologue, however as the game was only purchased by player one, it is obviously not possible for player two to play Diablo 4 via their own account, as the licence error message will be shown each time they start the game from their account.

Me and my kid got the ultimate edition ps5 to play together it worked for about 3 hours then it would not let here pick up item. So we exited then we re-entered and it joining saying she did not have a eligible character every time we restart the game she has to to start from scratch. Pretty mad about this. Says she doesn't have a license yeah we're playing on my account local wtf anybody else had this issue and know how to fix it.
