Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered the mandatory evacuation of people in the eastern Donetsk region.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko says it’s getting “very dangerous” in the region of Donetsk, so it’s important to move the civilians from the area to a safer place.

“We need to repel the Russians from Ukraine, they need to withdraw from Ukraine,” he told Sky News Australia.

“This is when we can start … peace talks.”

Yet again " mandatory " is the word of the hour, a word with zero authority behind it

Why has he ordered an evacuation when he is and has been the one shelling it for 8 years?

Very inspired to see so many comments from people that aren't propagandized lemmings and know what's really going on in Ukraine

Mr Ambassador what has Ukraine done for peace the last eight

Is it possible that this civilians have no problem with the Russians as people in that area are close to them in blood. So evacuation under the barrel of a gun and forcing their men to fight doesn't seem good

Zelinsky could have negotiated, involved the citizens of Ukraine, allowed a vote, and notified citizens in harm's way to be evacuated, . He didn`t.

Zelenski's order implies the evacuation of citizens that live in the currently "Ukrainian controlled" Donetsk Oblast/region, which is one third of the whole region. This is not the evacuation of Donetsk city itself which is controlled by the Donetsk People Republic. A great majority of the citizens leaving are moving to Russian controlled Zaporozhye region.

Why have peace talks when you can launder billions

Arnachistarchitect

Oh of course they need more money and more expensive weapons from the US. "Then maybe they can talk about peace".

Zelensky should have asked for Peace Talks a month ago however I guess he needs more time to launder money

Zelenskyy needs to go. No more support from US.

How is Zelenskyy going to actually get the entire population of Donetsk out.

Actually, the people of Donetsk and Lugansk perfectly know that they are in safety and security once Russia takes the regions fully under their control. This ambassador is in total denial of reality.

If all Ukrainians are told to evacuate from the area...
Is that like a hurricane warning? Something really bad is coming.

Only after using them as human shields and slaughtering them to stoke the war fires.

July in Ukraine must be mighty cold, look at all that heavy clothing. And look at all that July snow on the ground.

The (US) United States calls it "Liberation" instead of "Invasion". That was what US call it in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia and the list goes on... Why the double standard? Confused... Please enlighten. Genuine question...
