Ancient Sumer is only thought to be the cradle of civilization, However, that is only counting known history and what they have found to date. We cannot assume because archeologists claim they haven't found any other civilization older than Sumer, that there is no proof. How many discoveries were dismissed because they couldn't figure it out or did and don't want to change the status quo

I broke my ankle recently and I had a very nice Egyptian doctor.
He was telling me that there's been cases in Egypt where people have dug up their own homes in search for something from the ancient past but not finding anything, except that they've unfortunately destroyed their own property.

In my humble opinion on the stairs in the desert. Water was not plentiful in the desert and what was there was deep. So I think the stairs were just a way to retrieve the water. They didn't have any well diggers back then. So they made a set of stairs at about a 45 Degree to get to the water. Now this is not fact but rather a common sense approach to it.
