You can hear Lester Young, Stan Getz, Don Byas, Ben Webster, Coleman Hawkins in this. Yet it's uniquely Thompson! Great French rhythm section. Great ERA in Jazz, just before the tornado known as Coltrane blew in.

This Era was great because the feeling is strictly HUMAN. In the intervening years, "techno" music, produced by robots and computer programs, has invaded JAZZ. I hate to say it, but Coltrane was a premonition of this, with his rejection of vibrato, and his attempt to play super fast (like an electron moves) You can't keep up!! Stop trying to.
