Oh my goodness thank you Jesus. It’s about 930 at night here in Southwest Michigan and tonight is the very first night that my first flock of chickens is outside. all evening I have been trying to get them to go inside their coop. And they would not budge. They were all huddled together on the very top ledge of this little structure that I have for them. About eight minutes into your video I walked outside and set that structure down. And then I just sat there and watched. It was less than five minutes and they were all settled into the coop! Amazing! Thank you !

I am a newbie die raising chickens, we bought 4 copper moran chicks in January. I raised them in our sunroom in a 30 x 16 box from UPS. Used a heat lamp for the first 5 weeks. We're in central Florida and are having a very early Spring. We moved them outside to their new coop at 7 weeks. It took two nights before one of the hens went in at night....chasing the rest of them in. Then the second night 2 hens went in with the remaining two crying outside. Gave them a little coaxing and they went in. Tonight 3 went in by themselves with one left out crying, scooted her in. Hopefully tomorrow night will be a charm and all four will walk in. They love their coop and run. Its 120 sq. ft. My husband built from scratch and its beautiful.

Here I am in South Alabama, worrying that 50 degrees overnight is too cold for my chickens....man, did I miss that mark! You have Polar Chickens, snow bothers them not at all! I will worry less, now. These are tougher birds than I originally thought.

Thank you for this video! It worked- I went out- took the top roost away in the run and they finally went back into the coop this evening.

Thank you so much for sharing, I too live in Michigan and it gets pretty cold. I have five hens. Only one goes in the coop at night. The others are very stubborn and no matter what kind of weather it is they refuse to go in the coop at night. Their perch is higher than the door opening. I'm so tickled to try this. Their coop is clean, no bugs or animals.

lol Nutty chickens. Mine wouldn't go in their coop because they don't hit the hay until about 5 minutes before dark and they were skeerd of the monsters hiding in the dark coop. lol I put a little LED inside on a small battery and they went right in. Killed the light after a week and they've been fine since.

IT WORKED! My outside perch was higher than the entrance to the coop. I took the perch down and Yep, sure enough all the girls went in the coop. Snow is just around the corner and now I have peace of mind that they will be warm and comfy.

I been dealing with this problem also. Honestly I think it makes us as chicken owners feel worse than it is for them. I got almost 200 American Bresse and 20 stubborn girls refuse to go in. Thanks for video my friend

I've been having the same problem. I'm going to start to implement your suggestions as soon as their new coop is finished - should be next week. We are in the South, so we don't have the bitter cold that you have but, right now, I am having to coop my ladies in our greenhouse and, of course, they are pretty much destroying everything. We have a little coop that I put in there but they are no longer interested in that except to lay eggs.
Now, I'm getting excited about their new condo. Thanks for the help.

I’ve literally been putting my chickens inside the coop every day. BUTTTT they were raised inside the house for their entire lives and they didn’t know what “night time” was . So now they are trying to learn circadian rhythm. Lol

Salt water in small containers will keep your water from freezing. Tiny water bottles work. Super glue lid so salt can't get in the fresh water

I know video is a few months old. I just wanted to ask where you got your coop or what brand is it. Thank you

i built a coop and don't have any roosts in the run yet, but my girls want to sleep on the dirt in the run. so I've been picking them up and putting them in the coop and locking them in, because winter is around the corner and i didn't want them building bad habits. plus, I too am worried about predators spotting them at night. This is the 4th night I've had them, and the 2nd night I've put them in the coop. I guess time will tell!

Genius! I've been picking up my 14 week old Orpingtons off the perch in their run, carrying them to their coop, and then lighting the way in front of them with a flashlight up into the coop every night x 2 weeks. After watching your video, I went out before dusk, took the perch down, and like magic 🪄 ✨️ they go in on their own now. I put the perch back up in the morning and everyone is happy. Thank you.

Mine used to do that 😂 And the bugs they are talking about are Mites but those are a summer time issue not winter and also diatomaceous earth fixes that. But yours are like mine were it’s the fight for dominance everybody wanting to be up high. I did the Deep Bedding Method of hay straw leaves in layers bedding like Joel Salatin does and there was no issue with cold ground then. I have a Hut at one of my farms in upper peninsula WI (Apostle Islands) and if I can get up there and find some help to move it I’m having the building repurposed for mt new flock. It’s a whole tiny house for them! I’ll have to get it winterized a little but it will be good. Gonna get an electric door on it also. But been trying to get up there 4 yrs .. hard to do without a cabin to go to.
