Got my call sign last week, now I'm realizing the difference between being able to receive and transmit.

1:19:01 Artificial Ground: I have one, (MFJ-931 1.8-30MHz) It has the same controls as an antenna tuner, and basically tunes the ground. You can use a counter poise wire, or go direct to ground. I have mine in the latter configuration. It helps maximize your transmission peak, using a variable capacitance as well as lowering the noise floor.

I'm glad this won on the patrons picks. My shack has been a work in progress for far too long. I need to squeeze out the time to square it away. I need to bond my equipment and put up some peg board. Great video!

The Signal Stuff Signal Stalk is a great mobile antenna too btw. I have one hooked up NMO and it works really well for its size!!

Got my Technician's on Sept 21st. By the time I get anything set up it'll be 2022. Radio first, though. Good info, albeit overwhelming.

Josh, awesome vids as always!! Building a shack from bare studs and outlets. First, I was planning on using my electrical room where my fuse panel is, problem? Just some lights and outlets in the room. No other appliances, pumps, furnace etc are in the room. Second, Can I run multiple antenna coax from the radios in my shack to outside in a single plastic conduit, then to the respective antennas? Just not sure about interference between the coax.

Nice video, but how are guns related to comms and first aid in civilian life? As a first responder I can attest that if you want to help people in a disaster, /distress, a gun is not at all necessary. Maybe for hunting in off the grid situations? At any rate, thanks for your content. I enjoy it a lot.

Biggest reason for a license is safety. For both yourself and those who may be around you. Enjoy your videos, keep it up.

Sometimes, Youtube videos come up with the closed caption already turned on. Occasionally, when one is talking about Baofeng radios, it comes across the cc as "Bowel Thing"....

Just found your Discord. I really wish the tests were not as strict. At least let us have a reference book or notes. I am learning disabled, a terrible test taker and bad short term memory if I manage to pass I will forget it and need to look up my notes anyway. For so long I wanted in to ham but you needed code. I can't comprehend code. That went away but was too pricey. When I did have some money the local hams were gereatric and thumpped rule books harder than any preacher with a bible so I didn't want anything to do with it. Now more people my age (40 something or less) getting into it mainly through the prepper movement and a bit... nicer to get along with. Now that gear is getting cheap I am getting into it again but need to take the tests.
