Today we are going back in history to talk about a folktale that inspired one of our favourite mysterious movies...Coraline.

In coraline when coraline and the other mother are talking about playing a game outside in the mud the lightning strikes in the shape of a hand like the one that the two ladies downstairs saw in her future.

Everyone is confused as to why the mom named them blue eyes and turkey but I’m confused by those names and then their brother is just Arthur

Here’s another version of the story you told: in this version the two girls didn’t show their names. They did not have a brother. They saw the drum with the little girl outside, and asked for it. The girl told them to be bad and that’s what they did. The little girl said they had to do more. They did more and more. Until the little girl was asking specifically for her mother’s blood. They said no this time. So the little girl laughed as they ran to their house. But nothing was there, not even furniture. Nothing at all. Just walls. Suddenly they felt stiff and turned into those wooden drum people. They got sucked into the drum to stay there for eternity. The end.

This parent was VERY creative with picking out her names for her children.

There is this story called “The Drum”
in the book “More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark”, and it’s the exact same folk tail just different names for the two girls and the girl with a drum. But the new mother still had glass eyes and a wooden tail.

i was thinking to myself “I’ve heard this story before “ and I realized I used to go to my school library and pick up a book called “scary stories” and remembered really liking this one

"The other girl was named after the red dress she always wore." Did she come out of the womb wearing the dress or something? Or did the mom name turkey years after she was born. 😐

The only thing I'm thinking about right now is - why couldn't the girls just lie that they did horrible things? Not that the gypsy girl would check on them or something...

i remembered a story from Snarled, like that girl with drums told them to be really bad to have the drum, so they did what she said (something like that). When they came to have the drum i think she didn't gave it to them or the said that they already have it?? (I dunno hahaha) then when they went back home, everything's gone. No furniture and no one's home. Then they heard some noises like someone's hitting a drum, suddenly they didn't knew they were dancing?? (Yeah something like that) after that they realized they're now the dolls from the girl's drum. (Yea that's how I remembered it. Lol)

My grandmother gifted me the coraline doll for a Christmas present I still have it and love it it looks just like the one in the movie
