As the name suggest, the Yaris Cross is the new, high-riding version of the Yaris city car. It lands in showrooms from November employing the same platform and same range of engines as the popular runabout – including a 1.5-litre petrol-electric hybrid driven here.

Priced from $26,990 (plus on-road costs), the Yaris Cross will be sold in Australia in a choice of nine variants. – each marking a circa $4500 premium over the Yaris city car donor model.

We’re driving the mid-range GXL hybrid 4x4, priced from $34,990 plus on-road costs.

Why is Toyota introducing the corolla cross, haven't they got enough on the market. Toyota CHR, Kluger, Rav4, Prado. Then it's not even going to be 'All Wheel Drive' . I guess they have given up competing with the Mazda 3. I love how they can send an automatic collision notification as standard but not Blind spot monitoring. Unbelievable in 2022.

Toyota seem to forget that kids travelling in the rear seat normally use tablets... so where are the charge points?
