We got to go on a field trip there for school! They let us sit in a race car and look at its parts, we got to kiss the bricks, and overall it was very fun!

Starting with the goddamn thunderstorm the first year I go the first year I have to get the goddamn thunderstorm we had ponchos but my butt was soaked come on I just wanted to sit down

The track was built before 1909 and opened in 1909. But was not paved with bricks until after the 1910 season. The 1st 500 in 1911 was the 1st race held on the brick surface.
