In this recording, I used the 4th harmonic pedal invented by Denis de La Rochefordière, lightly in resonance position only.

Very nice. A Scarlatti that looks playable without being level 100 on the piano.

Thank you for playing yet another Scarlatti gem. He is a composer who understands the key board so well, so elegant and fine, and especially when played by Mr Barton

Lovely work. I learned this at about twice the tempo. The mood in your interpretation is chilling! I'll have to give it try at this pace. Thanks again, Paul. You're amazing. My teacher knows you by name, now. I share all your work with him. You've been a huge inspiration for me.

Beautiful! I did try to learn this sonata a time ago and it helps so much to hear it played so master fully, as it is meant to be played. May revisit this lovely piece!

This is Scarlatti grieving at the loss of his beloved wherein his loneliness is emphasised within the reverberation of palatial sprawlings . I am sure this interpretation is closely evocative of the original sentiment. 🙇‍♂️

Question - You are playing the 32nd notes more like 64th notes, as do many who perform this piece. I like it better than playing it as notated, but would love to know if this is a performance-practice element, and if so, what is it called and where does it come from?
