Reason will get VST Support, for real. So now the question is: What VST plugins should you get first? Omnisphere, Kontakt, Serum? he world of VST plugins is so huge. And what makes things even better, is that we will be able to control them with the integrated workflow of Reason, which makes VST even more powerful.

How are you going to use Propellerhead Reason now with the Reason 9.5 upgrade and VST plugin support? Are you still going to buy and use Rack Extensions, or will you go VST all the way?

I'll start with some free VSTs and see how it goes. I've already got a VCS3 emulator and a rototom kit in anticipation. But I am investigating the Izotope Iris spectral synth to give me a radically different way to manipulate sounds.

MusicIO - so i can use Nave, Sunrizer on my iPad as External MIDI Devices! OK, that is already on macOS with the musicIO Server, it works on Windows via the VST! Thumbs up!

East-West Quantum is the best I've seen for Film/TV composers! Definitely will look at their packages first 👍

If I didn't already have them I would get the iZotope Music Production Bundle 2, Arturia V Collection, SoundToys and Lush101. I'm actually very well stocked with VSTs (and loving the beta) so I won't be buying anything else in a while, unless I see something irresistible in a sale.

Hi mike, I am using Arturia's v5 collection, Omnisphere 2, gforce string machine and Mtron pro, Korg m1 and Wavestation and various vst effects. Can't wait to use them in reason.

since you are into cinematic music as well i can suggest "east west quantum leap libarys" you will find them on soundsonline. i myself use east west quantum leap symphonic orchestra gold - goliath - stormdrum - hollywood strings - symphonic choirs - and ra (rare instruments). you can of course just use kontakt to implement their instrument presets directly for quick acces thats propably the way to go but if you want to dive deeper in to the capabilitys i used "jbridge" to translate the 32 bit vst up to a 64 bit version and loaded them directly into reason without kontakt in between. (if you do for the currect version you need to go into the jbridge options and tick on the GUI related options for the interface to show up) that way you get acces to each individual note without loading the whole thing what kontakt would do that safes ALOT of loading time when it comes to loading up the tracks or ram usage which can become an issue if you keep adding
aditional the pianos of those are ok well they are more then ok they are excelent but there is one i like even more its PEARL concert grand i also use another for solo violins - chris hein solo violin - since there i can create some glitches on the fly while playing the violin on keyboard without the need to hand edit in every note slide.

i hope that this information were worth your time readin
in any case i wish you the best and i guess we are all equaly excited where this will lead reason defenatly upped the game again.

btw here is a question for you since you mention cinematic work . do you found a proper way to keep a video in sync and check with the timebar of reason. and i dont mean runing cubase or ablton as host loading the video in there and degrading reason to a rewire client (which would defeat the purpose and even disable the vst features to begin with) so maybe you got some hints on how to solve that problem to be able to work in reason and having the visual input on a screen of the movie you are working on.

cheers dayta

For reverb try Eventide plugins they're very good, they're having a reverb sale right now. Also, don't forget UAD plugins.

Great Video!
I agree with what you said I also think the mastering side in reason is Lacking so I will be purchasing the Soundtoys 5 Bundle
And
I also have Omnisphere 1 but don't think I will be upgrading to the new version
I also have Komplete 8 but will be upgrading to the Komplete 8 Ultimate package

Definitely going to try to get Nexus 2. Also you think any time in the future you can make a video on editing vocals inside of Reason?

Hi. Just stumbled on to your channel. I, like you, am looking forward to VST support in Reason. I would really love to use Izotope's Neutron for the utility side of things! I've been using it since it came out in Ableton and I love it! With regards to synths etc, I and seriously considering buying Serum! It's such a good wavetable synth and nestled in between a Dr Rex break, and a Kong rhythm, it's going to make a huge difference to sonic quality!!!

Hey Mike, I'm into Fabfilter (Pro-Q2, Pro-L, Pro-C2, Pro-MB, Pro-R and Timeless2) and Tantra for FX... the new Pro-R(everb) is really cool! For instruments I have Omnisphere2, Serum, Spire, Sylenth1, Korg M1, Wavestation, Kick2 All of these are working nice in R9.5... (signed up for beta testing)....

hey mike, since you compose cinematically, you may want to look at the catalog from 8dio.com. I'm personally leaning toward the bazantar.

I know nothing about VSTs, but i think I would use it for mixing and mastering in Reason. So I suppose it would be better to get bundles, and I've been checking at Waves Platinum ($ 499) and Izotope Prod.Bundle 2 (a bit more expensive). The main question is ==> do I really need these VSTs? (not YET for professional use - sorry - but does this really makes a clear difference? ...) Any other suggestion for a mixing-mastering bundle?
