Teleturgics II: 1st, 8th day & 40th-day Prayers after Birth & Intro to Baptism, Byzantine Rite

This lecture was produced for the use of the Teleturgics II class taught at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology by Fr. Philip Zymaris (filmed on April 2, 2020). It deals with the prayers after the birth of a child as recorded in the Mikron Euchologion or liturgical prayer book of the Greek Orthodox Church. We go over the 1st-day prayer, the 8th-day prayer, and the 40th-day prayer according to the Byzantine Rite. These prayers are said in anticipation of baptism which is to follow at a later date. The video ends with an introduction to the baptismal service according to the Byzantine Rite, specifically the current Greek Orthodox practice.
