Kid doesn't say one line but his expression say all. Great little actor.

Now that I think about it, House is never mean to the kids. Only to the parents.

For those that might not understand the lesson House was trying to say, basically he's trying to teach the value lesson of not wasting someone's(doctor here specifically) time.

I remember the good ol days when if you tried to play sick, the mom would make you eat or drink something that tasted horrible and bed rest without any TV or games.

Arrogance is a powerful tool when teaching a more arrogant person.

I can't believe people don't understand House's annoyance here. This lady just wasted time that could be spent treating patients.

I never particularly understood what he tried to teach here? Teach the mom not to use the doctor as a threat?

I was expecting him to get up from the wheelchair at one point

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that's the way most doctors would react when told that they were the second choice in the 'go to school or doctor' contest

Most people would hate for house to be their doctor, i on the other hand would absolutely love it

When I pretended to be sick, my mum would always let me stay home and she would try to talk to me about why I didn't want to go to school. Usually I refused to tell, you know "snitches get stitches" and all. But to this day, I appreciate that she was there for me, even when I didn't want to talk it out.

House is such a savage "Jack, is your mommy a big fat idot?" 🤣

I don't know why, but it absolutely took my breath away when he said, "How did you know I was a truant officer?" 🤣🤣🤣

I think it was the faux seriousness and shock with which he asked the question.

Love the lesson he teaches mom about misusing the doctors time. The kid figured it out but I think it went over the head of the mother.

just like a mother in a retail store where my hubby was a manager, she *warned* her kid climing a fragile display that 'the man will give you a smack if you don't get down' turning him into a bad guy for her lack of discipline towards her own brat.

One thing I appreciate about a lot of newer parents nowadays is this idea of taking "mental health days." Three times in a school year (with extensions if needed), the kid can tell their parent they're taking a mental health day, and the parent will call and excuse their absence, no questions asked. It makes a kid a lot less likely to fake being sick to get out of going to school if they feel like their mental health is cared about.

Additionally, why tf don't parents ever ask *why* their kid doesn't want to go to school? People don't go out of their way to avoid things without good reason.

every doctor should be able to handle something like this exactly this way and not get in trouble. Its not their job to tell a dumb mother to not allow her kid to fake being sick and walk all over her, they'd rather help people who actually need help. That and don't use the doctor as a threat, it'll just make your kid hate going even more. This was just such a rude, irresponsible thing for her to do
