I witnessed the beaside suburb Iluka when it was first being developed and local builders started with construction & opening their own display homes of high quality for the public to inspect. It was just sand dunes and the beach before the suburb was developed and the rest is history as the upfront design work of the suburb was top notch.
Overseas viewers would not be aware that all these homes are built out of concrete pads and double brick walls with a 50mm cavity in between and same with the upper level of the two story homes also a concrete pad with double brick walls and 50mm cavity (no timber frame houses were constructed) making these homes very solid and sound proof. The block sizes the houses are built on were also very generous (unlike todays small block sizes). The result is many grand homes of highest quality were built in this suburb and majority of the houses with swimming pools
