- Janek: Do you know what time is it?
- Me: Yes, it is beer o'clock.
- Janek: It is time for a coffee.
- Me: Sad Czech noises.

I definitely need to visit this city. Honestly the best part of the Czech Republic is the cities like this. I visited Plzeň while staying in Prague and it was lovely to see a Czech city not overrun with tourism for a more authentic feel. Also no intrusive tourist trap BS. This looks similar.

Missing my Erasmus days in Pardubice... I had an ambition to visit as many places as possible in Czech lands:
Pardubice, Prague, Kolin, Kutna Hora, Mlada Boleslav, Terezin, Olomouc, Ostrava, Cesky Tesin, Karvina, Cesky Krumlov, Ceska Trebova, Moravska Trebova, Hradec Kralove, Chrudim, Karlovy Vary, Plzen, Brno, Breclav, Snezka, Trutnov were the places that I spent time (either a couple of days or at least 4-5 hours). As a Turkish, I liked to explore Bohemia, Moravia and Silesianmoravia. I will never forget Ceske Drahy, RegioJet, Arriva and LeoExpress on those journeys...

Yes! I always ask for more videos on other places than Prague and I'm never disappointed. Before watching this video, I didn't even know that Pardubice existed! Thanks to you, I keep adding destinations to my travel list. Thank you!!

Aww, too bad I missed it. I was roaming around třída Míru just yesterday.

Few other tips or interesting facts:
1. Pardubice is a city of sports - besides already mentioned horse racing and speedway motorcycles, there is a great hockey team, historically one of the most successful in the country, also a football team that plays in the top league, a basketball team that also plays in the top league, etc. Pardubice is also a very flat region, so using a bike as a means of transport is very popular. And because of its flatness, it's also great for jogging, in-line skating, etc.
2. Pardubice is a city of transportation - there's an international airport that is just 10 minutes away from the main railway station (by bus). Although a connection to major European cities is not great atm, there was a direct flight to London before the pandemic so it might get reinstated at some point (fingers crossed). Speaking of the railway station - it's located on the main corridor that connects Hamburg - Berlin - Prague - Vienna (or Bratislava - Budapest). So yeah, you can use the railway station here to travel to other major EU cities. Or to many other cities.
3. If you love coffee then you’ll love Pardubice. There’s a lot of great coffee places that know how to make a good tasting coffee for you (including alternative brewing methods). Some examples – Putovní pražírna, Bakla cafe, Bílej Kocouř or Dobrý Kafe. But if you prefer the big coffee brands then there’s also Starbucks, Costa Coffee, or CrossCafe (Czech franchise, student-friendly).
4. There’s a lot of summer music fests, namely Majáles which takes place 5 min walk from the university, or Hrady, which takes place next to (below) a medieval castle Kunětická hora. Unfortunately, all fests have been canceled during this year due to the pandemic. But there’s a good chance they’ll reopen the following year.
5. Getting around the city is really easy. Besides the already mentioned possibility to commute by bike, you can also rent one (Nextbike) or you can rent an electric scooter (Bolt or Uber; and it's actually kinda useful here because there're almost no cobblestones, unlike in Prague, and a good amount of bicycle paths). Another option is to use a bus or a trolleybus, which can get you pretty much anywhere in the city, including the more distant areas. And it's cheap. And last but not least you can just use your feet because the whole city is about 1/6 of the size of Prague.

In any case, you are more than welcome to visit Pardubice 😊

If I was a foreigner and saw this video, I'd get an impression that all you can do in Pardubice is drink and study :D While they have lovely historical sights such as the exceptionally nice castle, the tower and the main square with the impressive town hall.

The main reason that I have heard about this city since before is because of the brewery and their beer Pardubický Porter. Then like someone else mentioned the ice hockey team seems quite good and have been qualified for CHL a couple of times if I remember correctly.

I am planning my next vacation so more this. Grand Tour around Czech Republic seems to be great idea.. Car, sleeping bag and 2 weeks of free time. Spend on good food, great beer and adventure. Not far from Poland so I will not declare bankruptcy by buying gas :D. So please more this kind of content. You should do episode on Těšín-Cieszyn. How one city can be in two different countries at the same time :D.
