I've only managed to execute smothered mate twice or thrice against other people. The mate itself may not be that impressive but it still felt amazing to be able to remember those sequence of moves in a game.

The true way you smother mate is you forget step 2 and do queen check -> queen sac -> premove knight "mate" into resignation after the king takes both instead of the rook
