There's one I don't think you've had in this series so far, Chic Brodie was a Scottish football goalkeeper who in 1970 had a dog smash into his leg while he was picking up the ball, an awkward position that caused major ligament damage. He quit pro football with only a handful more games played that season. I think there's footage of it on youtube.
