What does 2025 hold for Alex Albon? How has golf changed his approach to Formula 1? Would he like more competition from his teammate?

The Williams driver answers all those questions and more in his first proper catch-up with Tom Clarkson on F1 Beyond The Grid since 2022.

Albon explains the mindset of being a number two driver at Red Bull Racing compared to being team leader at Williams, how his fitness varies so much throughout the season, and why self-care is the most important part of his preparation.

Plus, Alex explains why he has 13 cats and who the most competitive Padel player in the paddock is.

Chapter markings:
03:42 - Taking a fall in the Netflix Cup golf
08:57 - How Alex stays fit (and awake)
17:06 - Why Alex's best is yet to come
23:39 - Racing as Verstappen's teammate
29:25 - Podium chances in 'intense' 2024
33:40 - Can Alex name his 15 pets?
39:30 - Where will Alex be in 2025?

Albon has to be one of, if not the most friendly and genuine drivers on the grid. I’ve always admired him for that and it’s always a pleasure to hear him speak

Albon has a heart of gold. Quickly became one of my favourite driver personalities on the grid.

Alex has an intangible quality where he seems more human than all the other drivers. The other guys tend to put up a wall or a media personality in interviews, Alex comes across as totally honest and authentic.

I can clearly see the confidence Alex has now compared to the previous 2 interviews. He looks more composed, self-assured but also very articulate in his thoughts. Its not a smooth flowy articulation but he can really explain and describe situations and how it feels like to drive an F1 car.

Plus, his explanation of how Max likes his car setup and his teammates always suffer was brilliant. It makes so much sense now.

Such a cerebral driver Alex Albon!

Alex is always so down to earth and it’s not fake or put on - that’s who he is. When you see him in the paddock, he’s the same way.

He has improved a lot since his year at Red Bull in 2020. Would love to see him have another shot at a top team

he's really proved his talent & resolve in recent seasons, i'm sure he doesn't love driving the wheels off of a weaker car, but i like him all the more for it.

here's to wishing Williams & Alex a return to the podium by 2026.

Never forget that he was right up there with Russell and Norris in F2 in 2018 and was Leclerc's main competitior in F3 (GP3) in 2016. There's a reason they rate him

I'm very happy to see F1 actually have a camera on for a Beyond the Grid episode! I understand its a podcast and that's generally just audio but on video sites like YT I appreachate being able to see faces, reactions and just the interviewer and interviewee in general. Also I'm into the technical side of video production (since I do film stuff at my high school) so nice to see how these interviews are set up!

Very enlightening when I think of the average week for a F1 driver and what options one has to train and keep up with ones fitness during the season. it's not an easy life, and the season gets longer and longer... I respect all drivers!! For Alex I certainly wish for a great future in F1, he is very down to earth, very thoughtful as a personality next to being intelligent and gifted. A very cool guy!

A great interview with a great driver! I hope that Alex gets the rewards he so clearly deserves!
And on a separate note, Alex's humbleness, honesty and self reflection, makes that you really begin to understand somewhat what it takes to be an F1 driver, which truly is an eye-opener.

I’m loving having a video option with these interviews and not just audio!

Great podcast. I think what’s the most significant thing about Albono is the insight into the car and the world of F1. I think he is the most conscientious driver of this generation. I see why James Vowles wants to keep him and develop the team and the car around him. There’s no one better for feedback and forward thinking on the grid.

It's nice that F1 drivers explain more and more in deep, so we can all come closer how that life looks like
