Hogwarts Legacy: How to Change Your Gear Appearance (Transmog)

Hogwarts Legacy is chock full of gear, whether it be neckwear, cloaks and robes, outfits, and even facewear. But if you’re looking to keep appearances, mixing and matching gear to ensure you’re receiving the best stats possible won’t always provide the best appearance. Thankfully, Hogwarts Legacy utilizes a transmog system, which allows you to essentially activate cosmetic overrides for all types of gear. So, if your wizard fancies themself a fashionista, this video will explain everything you need to know about using the transmog system to change your gear appearance in Hogwarts Legacy.

I was having an issue with not having the option to change gear appearance. I fixed it by going to settings/ PC control options/ change gear appearance and rebound it to = then backed out and the option was fixed. I then went back in and reset to defaults and it fixed whatever glitch there was causing it to not appear on my screen. hope this helps people having the same issue I was.

Man i agree with everyone saying they should have had an NPC explain this, Like the Gladrags Wizardwear guy maybe? i thought i still needed to unlock it, i had no idea i already had it. And i'm sitting here in cutscenes looking like an idiot 🤣

Also you can sell your gear but you’ll still keep the appearances because you’ve owned it already I think

I was thinking of doing ALL the merlin trails for item space. I wanted to have different clothing / options only for realise i could change styles :/

Is there a way to set it so you don't have constantly re set the appearance. Like "always have this scarf as the appearance"

You mean I spent 27 hours (so far) looking like an absolute nincompoop because I thought I had to?! They couldn't make the Change Appearance option a little more obvious instead of camouflaging it in with all the other Gear menu info? Or even some character helpfully letting us know? Oy...
Well, I haven' t progressed too far into the main story, so I just looked embarrassing to mostly side-quest people. I can never show my face in Keenbridge again...
