Ron Vale explains the inner workings of the motor protein called kinesin (“kin-EE-sin”) that transports vital components within cells and also separates chromosomes during cell division. He discovered kinesin when he was at Woods Hole, MA and continued his kinesin research at UCSF.

I learnt about motor proteins a few years ago. Until then, I thought biology is quite boring. I think it is absolutely fascinating and also cute that something so small exists in everyone’s body. It looks incredibly cute how they walk around on their legs.

What a fantastic explanation. I took Bio-231 and we learned everything about proteins, kinesin, ATP, ADP, etc. It's fascinating to realize what goes on within our bodies.

Your Question and your dedication for an answer is inspiring and admirable.

~ One delightful creature that has taken advantage of kinesins for survival in extreme conditions, since way back evolutionary times, is the Tardigrade.
It takes advantage of the ability of kinesins to convert chemical energy into mechanical energy & vice-a-versa, when faced with extreme survival conditions.
It is this ability that makes it unique in that the Tardigrade has eight legs, which is very unique for it's size.

Omg thanks ... Alot of years i wanted to know about motor protein and Kinesin protein walk animation. But not able to get correct explanation and details. Finally scientist who actually discovered this explains ❤️❤️❤️.
I wanted to be a biotechnology engineer from my school and childhood days 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺... But now I am a software developer. But still biology fascinates me

Still mechanistic @ the molecular level! Signature in the cell? Great book!

I hope this research rewards Dr Vale with a great life. Disciplined curiosity is what got science going in the first place. Now disciplined malevolence abuses scientific techniques to find ways to destroy or dominate others.

Keep up the great work you do! I'm very fascinated with the inner workings of the cells...

Thank you! I never knew this was going on.

Whether you believe this is by design, evolution, or whatever, it is amazing. We only know at this time that we observe it and don't understand how it came to be. And that goes for many things. The JWST is challenging our theories in astrophysics for instance. All we can keep doing is ask why.

Having the one who discovered it tell about it :0

We need stronger and smaller cameras so we may see the action closer up

Cells: Hey we got this life thing down pretty good, but what would be awesome is if we could move around.
Motor Protein: I have an idea !

Was the Dynien found the same time the Kinesin was found ?

How do they Synchronize?
what keeps the two 'feet' of the kinesin from releasing at the same time and losing grip?

Ok. These are specified as base 4 digital information, as are the 6 different cargo linking proteins.

Wish Dr Vale would tell us his thoughts on how...

I wonder if they are run off opposing magnetic poles/fields
