Don't Be A Handle Pusher! (PIVOT For Shaft Lean At Impact)

Many golfers are trying to create shaft lean and compress their shots by driving the handle forward with their hands and arms. There is a better way to create a dynamic impact in the golf swing, rather by using our pivot. Try this out instead!

Love you program and finally got to try it yesterday, rough start but by the second nine I was very encourged. Because of the rain our range has been closed for over a week.

Thank you for this, this completely highlighted exactly what I’ve been struggling with, I knew there was something keeping me from hitting my irons as far as I’d expect, and had swings where I’d randomly get way more carry out of a club due to other factors like the ball being way above my feet and getting more pivot by accident.

Literally headed to the driving range to work on this as I write this comment

Hey Milo. Are there players that you coach who feel this when they focus on the back of the lead hand facing the target at impact? I’d consider training the feel but not if I develop a flip

This was Gold. So much good information in a short video - like a nutrient dense meal. Great stuff Milo.

another good video. Can you make a video on accurate striking or “aiming”? I’m a decent golfer, but it’s always been a mystery to me how great golfers aim to hit the sweet spot on the club every time. Isnt hand path? Do u aim at the ball with ur right hand like baseball? Or u pull thru with ur left arm? What is your philosophy on this…?

That was an out to in swing and I bet you faded the ball?

This might be nit picky! Would it be feasible for you to show the positions at impact, then demo a full speed swing then show the impact position from that full speed swing? For some reason and it just may be me be a bonehead I think it will make the position easier to understand (or not). Thanks for all you’ve done for free so far!!!

Seems like when I go to work on my irons I start out hitting everything flush and spot on. After 15 balls all of a sudden the ball shoots off left I'm thinking it could be that I stop turning in synch/start arm swinging. Having a bad back and shoulders not so surprising. Do you have a couple of drills to work on syncing up? Reference to other content would be great. Thanks

Thank you. That is a fabulous, clear and concise explanation. I wasn't a good baseball hitter and now I know why. Great analogy. Of course the practical application of these concepts are key. Now if I could only get to Arizona ....

The vast majority of golfers flip at impact . Just rotating the rib cage by itself to create shaft lean will not eliminate the flip because flipping is such an ingrained habit. Rotation must be accompanied by trying to maintain the angle of the right wrist past impact . After the new habit of rotation and shaft lean becomes well ingrained, there will be no need to focus on maintaining this right wrist angle

This video was perfect timing for me. I have been working on forward shaft lean all year, with marginal success, because I was forcing it with my arms. Thank you Milo for explaining forward shaft lean so clearly. Without hitting a shot I am positive that your tip will work for me!

Nice balance as you save with butt end of club! I watch so many of your videos and have started improving steadily, cheers Mr. Lines.

Applied this today. Not trying to shaft lean. Excellent results. Thanks Milo

Shaft lean at impact is a result. Not a goal. The goal should be to fully release the club just beyond the ball.

Thanks Milo for clarifying the correct motion of the body and arms; at what point should we release the angle of the wrist to accelerate the club head?
