I have always been impressed with the quality of Montgomery Ward products. My grandparents had a water pump for their well that was installed in 1940. It ran for over 60 years and the only reason it was replaced is the house was remodeled and the well was reworked. We had a Wards window A/C that blew really cold for over 30 years. My dad was born in 1940. He use to install TV antennas (rural IL) he was trained to work on Zenith televisions. He didn't want to go back to school and take color TV training. He went into driving a bulldozer as it paid well. I wish my dad was still around to watch this video.

What a work of art it’s a shame they don’t make them like this anymore

Hazel was a program you would be watching on that 1963 set...perfect timing!.... you've inspired me to try and tackle my 1968 RCA console I have in the spare room

I really hope whoever adopts this doesn’t destroy it. That’s a nice piece of history.

That's a very well-preserved entertainment center, especially for something only three years younger than me!!

Jordan if I wasn't all the way in Kentucky I'd adopt this. Great job!

I could watch that test pattern for an hour, was how most kids spent their Saturday morning before the channel came on air before cable..lol.

Excellent job! You worked through a lot of details to get this baby going. That set actually produces a very nice picture, minus the DC restoration issue that you spoke about. The linearity of the picture both horizontal and vertical is quite good for a black and white set of that vintage.

Awesome video, thanks! I just got a very nice Airline WG-5773A which is very similar to this; it's going to be my first console project, so this is a tremendously useful video. I found the Sam's Photofact for mine, so it's almost time to start.

These TV's 📺 were the symbol of quality through the 1960's, and 1970's. They were built to last, and made to be repaired. No 👎, or very minimal plastic was used in the manufacture 👨 of these TV's 📺. This TV 📺 looks great 👍, and has a large CRT, for everybody about the house to see 👀. No 👎 tiny screen. It appears that this TV 📺 is the deluxe model, with AM/FM radio 📻. And two great 👍 sounding stereo speakers 🔊. I also assume that the radio 📻 dial is glass, and has a dial light for 🌙 night viewing. This TV 📺 has a VERY BEAUTIFUL WOOD finish. Chrome knobs accent it very beautifully. Time, and pride 😤 was put into the manufacture 👨of these sets. I'm going to guess, by American 🇺🇸 workers. They were a LUXURY ITEM for the house 🏠. VERY WELL APPRECIATED. The MONTGOMERY WARD'S name REALLY tops it off. I wasn't even aware that this TV 📺 had a record player, until ya started 🌟 approaching the end of the video 📹. I sure wish I could buy this through mail order, the way we did it in the 👍 Good Old Days. I don't have an online service, or credit 💳 cards. Please keep 👌 me posted 📫 on this, and all these BEAUTIFUL TV's. Gone are the days of QUALITY, and GREAT 👍 products. We can help preserve those days, here. Hopefully, for MANY 👨, MANY 👨 GENERATIONS to come. Your friend, Jeff.

My parents had the same 1963 stereo console without the TV. I also remember their FM radio had to have the optional MPX adapter to receive FM stereo, hence theirs had no stereo indicator lamp, even though there is a FM stereo position on the mode switch. Does that unit have the optional adapter for the MPX, or was it built into the tuner on this one.

I know you can't keep em all but hope it finds a home that doesn't turn it into a damn doghouse or aquarium either.

I love this B&W TV Stereo! I’m in L.A. How can I come and see and adopt it?

Well you got that set up very close, good enough i would say.
That eye is odd, it seems to have too much gain, and an opaque lense might help.
A cheap t.v box mounted inside would give the new owner a remote control set and channels ready.

Ahhhh the good old days when they built dubious electric appliances inside a pile of varnished combustible. In houses insulated with saw dust.
