I'll never forget when I was a kid - I was already a fan of Godzilla and I even liked the Tristar movie and cartoon that followed it. But I always wanted _more._ So I frequently rented the classics from the local video store whenever I could.
So imagine my surprise when one day, I was watching TV with my brother and parents, and we see this trailer. And I honestly couldn't believe...a _new movie_ from Japan, released _here_ in America. I didn't even think it was possible, because I thought they had stopped making them at the time. My six year old self lost his mind when I saw him appear on screen and heard the guy yell, "Godzilla!"
My older brother - snarky jerk he was - said, "That's _not_ Godzilla." That was his "Sweet-Summer-Child, " moment, back before that phrase was a thing.

It was also the same year that my dad introduced me to the Blue Oyster Cult Godzilla song. It was a big year for me as a fan. I'll never forget how happy I was seeing this movie in theaters.

Looking back, it is _so fitting_ that they chose Rob Zombie's "Super Beast" for this trailer. Why? Because everything about this movie was a deliberate message - especially from Toho. So Tristar, when they were forced to distribute this, knew that they had to take that slice of humble-pie and distinguish it from _their movie_ as much as they could.
Zombie's Song is practically a message from Godzilla himself, letting you know that _he_ is the genuine article, and he's back...

A fantastic childhood memory i cherish. Me and my little brother came to watch chicken run in theaters (fun movie by the way) and while talking to each other, suddenly the moment the Toho studios logo showed up, we shut up immediately and watched in awe of pure hype and all we did throughout the rest of the day is talking nonstop of how awesome Godzilla is coming to theaters!!! Good times.

My head canon is that Rob Zomboe wrote Superbeast specifically for Godzilla.
