What are One Point Lessons in Lean?

One-Point-Lesson (OPL)
Registering standard ways of working is a common approach for many organisations. These standards represent the ´best practices´ of the moment and form the basis for the improvement process. The problem with SOPs is often that detailed descriptions are only read quickly or at a glance.
One way to counter this is to split up the separate actions of a SOP into smaller tasks and to visualise these. It is known as: One-Point-Lesson (OPL).
An OPL describes a single action (of a SOP) in short, concise directions with supporting images and photo material. The activity should be able to be acted out and taught to someone else in about 10-15 minutes. An entire process can consist of multiple OPLs.
