This ACME Whistles TV advert first aired in October and November 2018 to commemorate the WW1 Centenary – the 100th Armistice Day on November 11th, 2018. ACME Whistles was founded in Birmingham, England in 1870 and the brand's proud military history has played an important role in shaping the company. Their military history began with the provision of ACME 'Metropolitan' whistles to the British army for use in WW1. This commercial is a nod to that proud heritage, but it is also a tribute to the servicemen and women of WW1.

The full history of ACME Whistles is rich and diverse. The origins of the Metropolitan Whistle, and indeed the company itself, can be traced back to 1870 when Joseph Hudson patented and produced the first Metropolitan Police Whistles for use by the Victorian police force. Now, every whistle in the world owes its existence to that inspired moment in British history.

The captain and crew of HMS Titanic blew ACME Whistles. RAF servicemen and women in WW2 used ACME Whistles. The referee in the 1966 World Cup wore an ACME Whistle. And still to this day, heroes all over the world rely on ACME Whistles to perform in their day-to-day jobs; from the brave fire service, police, coastguard and military personnel who fight to keep us safe to sporting heroes and musical legends!

Bringing a century and a half of British history to life, this commercial celebrates the heritage of ACME Whistles as well as being an ode to some of the major events in British history where ACME Whistles played a part.

Dear Acme, I just got my Metropolitan Police Whistle. What a lovely tone! And a perfect nickel finish! So glad that it says "MADE IN ENGLAND" and not made in place-which -shall-not-be-named. It is intended to be my emergency whistle should things go truly pear-shaped. I'll get your boatswain's pipe next. Thank you for making all this stuff by hand, in England, and not automated or outsourced. You and Fox Umbrellas at Croydon have made my February. Keep it up and never sell out! Your captain EJ Smith in this ad gave me the chills, he looks so much like the pictures.
