I watched a documentary about Robert shortly after his passing.
He was so horrified by the number young drivers killed in car crashes in Italy through drink and drugs directly linked to nights out, he decided he wanted to try and do something about it.
Realising the power that this genre of music had to reduce the effects of drugs and alcohol, he used this as his motivation to create music in the style and manner that he did - If he could bring people down at the end of the night Robert figured this could lead to a reduction in the number of people being killed or seriously injured on the way home.
He literally created music in an attempt to save lives... And statistics in Italy showed it actually worked!
In life this guy was a legend, in death an immortal... He will live on forever through his music.
Forza Roberto... Grazie! X

This reminds me of being a teenage lifeguard in the 90's. 7am, early morning swim, lifeguards in charge of the music.

amazing track... RIP Robert Miles. Giuseppe Ottaviani opened to Fables for a concert in California back in 2018 and it was one of the best openings I can remember. ❣️✨

IN the mid 90s in Italy a phenomenon developed that came to be known as the "saturday night slaughter". It was a high number of fatal car crashes caused by people who had been raving all night to hardcore / gabber / bouncy techno and such like high energy genres, with the aid of ecstasy and such like drugs, leaving the venue and driving home with that vibe still in their system. Robert Miles came up with the idea to try to popularize a laid back, chilled, ethereal kind of trance that could be played, either as the entirety of sets, or towards the end of sets after previous high BPM music, to wind the crowd down and chill them out before they got in their cars. I don't know if it actually worked or not, but it did give us some wonderful music.

Robert Miles really knew how to tell a story with his music and arrangements which I think chicane, bt, and others aspired to do as well...today is a different story. "Yo, thisss sucks, wheres the drop"??? Btw, the vocal version is beautiful too!!

Wow so many memories to Robert Miles and this track. Back then when i was a little child and even don't no that trance exists, Robert Miles was often been played in the radio here in Germany. One day i sit back in the car, my mother drived and getting lost on a very cold day in the middle of the night and this song came up. Gave me some goosbumps back then and even more now. Find this and the other great Miles tracks (Children, One and One) years later again. I am very sad that this kind of music isn't a big thing for my generation any more. Electronical music from the 90s are so fresh, smooth, emotional, magical, innovative.

Thank you so much for this chanel and that you keep this great music alive! <3
