"If you want to watch Finals games that are 75-72, have your nostalgic era."

“We complained about them complaining…” Sounds like there’s too much complaining especially from the media.

Players complained to the refs and flopped in every era. It is just about the frequency.
Just look at guys like Luka and Harden who forfeit defending just to complain to the refs on every play. Also, the amount of technical fouls given in today's game is exponentially more than previous eras. They're allowing more physicality this year and it made for a better product.

I agree with JJ. Who doesn’t love 90’s basketball? But the inconsistency in old heads debates with the new generation is ANNOYING. If social media existed back then everything would have been dissected way more, they have that advantage . We all didn’t see everything so it’s easy to just bring up the best highlights of the 90’s without any negativity . It’s okay though … the NEW MEDIA taking over 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 only thing I give Stephen A credit for is bringing on these ex nba players to debate him, he’s knows it’s good for ratings but they really giving him a run for his money

I miss 80s NBA basketball. Those old school dare devils without helmets and shoulder pads.

I love jj. He’s the 🐐. This why jj is the best on ESPN. Make him the face of the channel.

People like Stephen A who are much older people live for the nostalgic moments since “their best years” have gone by. That’s why they develop biased opinions in music, architecture, etc. To everyone, their era will be the best once you’ve reached the “old age” Lol
& it’s fair to assume it’ll happen to most of us.

Man I miss the sports reporters of the 80s and 90s they did so much less complaining.

JJ is the best analyst ever hands down! He brings out so detailed points that the current analysts have not thought about. He also provides fresh perspective from modern day NBA. Love it

JJ really getting mad about this. But this era has way more divas than any other era in basketball. The complaining has obviously increased throughout time.

I am 41 Grew up in the 1990s as a diehard New York Knicks fan. Somehow I’ve managed to remain a huge fan of the NBA through all the changes to rules and style of play. Too many whining and crying old men longing for the past..

JJ is cocking everything and everyone and it's so much fun to watch.

I understand what jj is saying but you can’t officiate the game a certain way just to keep up appearances. If the man deserves a tech he deserves one lmao. And this era does complain on a whole different level not to say others didn’t complain this is just next level

Get him JJ . I love every era but the media loves talking about the 80s and 90s era like the skill of today’s players is not levels above the previous eras. Dude I’m 21 and I know that lords willing my kid’s era of basketball will probably be even more skilled.
As a matter of fact I see it now. I go to the park and kid’s footwork and handles were way past the kids when I was growing up in the early 2000s. They have trainers now and what’s even more convenient now is that trainers will put vids on YouTube.

Alot of the 80s and 90s hype come from the last dance revamping the oh the 80s and 90s where great chants. Also alot of these pundits are old. as fk. I love this new generation of actual basketball players coming up.

The 80-90s was the golden age. The current generation will always be more athletic than the previous one. The game is softer but these freak athletes are also a little more brittle. This game is still great minus the sketchiness of officiating.

I think what Stephen A Smith is trying to say and what I kind of agree with is this. Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics basically wanted Draymond to get another tech to get ejected so they can then have a competitive advantage over the warriors because of how important Draymond is to the team. Stephen A is basically saying forget all that play ball as long as nobody is trying to hurt you, or injure you no harm no foul play ball. Don't let the officials bail you out, if your the best team you should be able to beat them. Jaylen Brown saying Draymond was trying to pull his pants down was incorrect. We all know he was trying to get leverage to get off the floor after he stood over him talking crazy. I see it all around the league ya'll tell me when the heat played the raptors, and that raptors player was running up the court and kyle lowry legit ran behind him and into him is basketball, trying to draw a foul? I think there should be a happy medium but current players and nostalgia players both had to admit each area was to far on one side

I feel like the camera work is advanced now too. Now the cameramen focus and key in on people complaining
