This art from Fallout 2 was so controversial they took it out of the game

The artist who drew this Vault Boy illustration for Fallout 2 wrote on his blog, "Even the designer who requested it realized it was a bad idea, so we nixed it. Looking back on it now, I can’t believe I drew this."

It is funny in how literal it is. There's like no way to misunderstand it. Also, you wouldn't see it without being a monster so it's fitting. Still, probably best to have it cut.

Yeah. As a creative, I've DEFINITELY finished something and asked myself, "What the hell was I thinking?" Honestly, Fallout was supposed to be dark and I find it quite appropriate in the circumstances.

I almost wish it stayed (maybe vaultboy kicking just a crib instead?) because it fits Fallouts like happy go lucky vibe that’s actually hiding tons of dread/genuinely horrific things. Like it has the silly appearance due to how it’s drawn, but it’s morbid af when broken down

Honestly seems kinda tame to me. i mean sure conceptually bit controversial but its execution seems so benign. especially compared to the guy bursting into blood and guts. I mean the perk is called child killer for cry out loud. is it an edgy game or not?
