Sloth is the laziness, acedia is wanting to do or be anywhere but doing the current task at hand. It starts as procrastination and ends with a daily midlife crisis to where you do anything but the thing you need to do. Hhhmm I should do my daily prayer in the morning, then this comes up, but I should brush my teeth first. Maybe take a shower and eat. So you do that and when you’re done, Oh it’s time to go to work or run errands, and look where you went. It started with neglecting a daily task and ended with complete avoidance. This sin I couldn’t make sense of for years until Fr Mike explained it in detail. Go watch his video, it really helps.
